Derby Day

Its derby day, hope everyone drinks and gambles with some level of responsibility. Secretariat set the record derby time in 1973. Finished at 1:50.40, no other horse would come in under two minutes until 2001. Not only did he set the record at Kentucky, he became one of 12 horses to win the U.S. Triple Crown.

One of the derby winners that impresses me the most is Donerail, who in 1913 became the biggest long shot to win. Donerails odds had him sitting at $92.40 to 1. He also managed to set a track record in his come from behind victory.
